About Salisbury

Salisbury is a neighborhood of southern Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Salisbury had a population of 6,290 at the 2016 census.

History of Salisbury

Salisbury was named after the residence of the local resident William Coote, an early Brisbane engineer, architect, journalist, and political figure. In England, it`s presumed to refer to Salisbury.

In 1885, the Beenleigh railway line was opened which included the Salisbury railway station to serve the area. On 2 May 1885, the Logan Railway estate was auctioned, the estate was near the railway station in Salisbury.

Tourist attraction in Salisbury

Salisbury Recreation Precinct is a thrilling sport and recreational facility providing events for all ages. 

The tennis complex has eight floodlit, state-of-the-art surface courts, four of which feature the Australian Open`s Plexi-cushion surface. These courts are the only ones in South Australia to feature this surface outside of Memorial Drive in Adelaide.

Throughout the year, the tennis facility holds instructional workshops, events, come `n` play games, competitions, workout hours, social initiatives, night tennis teams and informal group court hire.
