About Mansfield

Mansfield is a Brisbane City, Queensland, Australia suburb. Mansfield had a total of 8,695 individuals in the 2016 census.

Mansfield is located approximately 13.5 kilometers (8.4 mi) along Brisbane CBD `s South-South-East road.

History of Mansfield

The area has an agricultural history, which primarily consists of dairy cattle and sheep grazing. One can still find original fence lines in the remaining bushland pockets. The quarry once located on Ham and Wecker Roads also excavated large amounts of sandstone used across some of Brisbane`s historic landmarks, such as the Brisbane City Hall.

On 1 August 1967, after the Queensland governor of that time, Sir Alan Mansfield, the suburb was named by the Queensland Place Names board.

Tourist attraction in Mansfield

Arguably the Mansfield area`s greatest asset is its remaining bushland and parkland pockets. Broadwater Park, the largest public park in Mansfield, is a reasonably large open space featuring barbecue areas and play equipment for children. This park is adjacent to a large bushland reserve that follows the Bulimba Creek course
