About Greenslopes 

Greenslopes is a residential suburb in the City of Brisbane. It is approximately 5 km south-east of central Brisbane.

History of Greenslopes 

The suburb was named after the green pasture of a 19 hectare estate owned by Frederick Wecker in 1857. 

The district in the suburb was originally confined to the south-east area of Stones Corner. Major dwellings in Greenslopes are `character homes` of pre-war construction as it is valuable to the identity of the suburb. Due to the outbreak of World War II, most of Greenslopes` residential areas were built on and by early postwar years, the suburb became a mature suburb.

Tourist Attractions in Greenslopes

The suburb has astounding spots to explore. 

The Caravan Parks including Brisbane Bayside Village Thorneside, and the Newmarket Gardens Caravan Park that has game rooms, tennis court, and picnic tables. 

There are also the playgrounds and parks such as Thompson Estate Reserve, and A. J. Jones Recreation Reserve. In the Tarragindi Recreation Reserve, tourists can enjoy the trails, climbing web and fitness equipment. 

Schools and Sports in Greenslopes 

The Greenslopes State School which is a primary school was known as Dunellan from its opening in 1890 until rebuilt in 1924. The State primary confined others schools, but there were Catholic schools in the neighbouring Coorparoo.

Greenslopes Bowls Club, a growing bowls club and one of the best bowling teams in Queensland. The Ekibin Park East located at 133 Juliette Street is a park that provides facilities for the Bowls Club as well as for Annerley Recreation Club.
