About Dutton Park

Dutton Park is an inner southern suburb of the City of Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, Australia. It is situated about 4.3 kilometres south of the Brisbane CBD.

The suburb is bounded to the north-east by the Beenleigh railway line and to the south-west by the Brisbane River.

History of Dutton Park

Dutton Park was a space reserved in 1884 for recreation. It was named after Charles Boydell Dutton, a Secretary of Public Lands. Before becoming the name of the suburb, `Dutton`s Park` was first applied to surrounding estates, a school and a railway station.

The suburb was once a squatter in the district of Tambo, however it won respect as a reformer of the land laws and earned the hostility of squatting interests.
